Anna’s oil painting plus other sketches in charcoal and gouache responding to London 2012 were produced for “Corsham Reformed” and are shown in the animated sequence here. They are compositions incorporating sports-people in action, characters from Greek sculpture including the Parthenon friezes as well as imagery from the Olympic Park in Stratford, East London. The watercolour frieze below shows the whole sequence of images together in one painting. The works were inspired by the Parthenon sculptures currently in the British Museum that represent the annual procession celebrating the festival of the goddess Athene, during which many games, sports and daring feats took place. Anna’s paintings are a celebration of the event that took over and inspired the residents of Waltham Forest for the whole of 2012.
Original piece of work painted in Watercolour to commemorate the Olympics is now presented in an edition of 20 Giclee prints. (see image below)
